Immunohistochemical Studies of Estrogen and Progesterone Receptor Containing Cells of Normal and Pathologic Endometrium

Abstract
A total 30 patients who had undergone bipsy or hysterectomy for pathologic or nonpathologic endometrial lesions were included in the study to observe the staining pattern of the the cells & distribution of estrogen receptor (ER) and progesteron
receptor(PR).
The studies constisted of 5 cases of endometrial adenocarinoma, 5 cases of endometrial cystic hyperplasia and 20 cases of normal endometrium by menstrual dating, including 5 cases of early proliferative phase, 5 cases of mid to late proliferative
phase,
5 cases of early secretory phase and 5 cases of late secretory phase.
@ES The results were as follows:
@EN 1) Special staining for estrogen and progesterone receptors in the normal endometrium strongly detected in the late proliferative and early secretory phase. However, late secretory endometrium showed a dramatic reduction in the positive of ER
&
PR.
2) The degree of positive reaction of ER an PR in the cystic hyperplasia of endometrium was lower than that of normal endometrium.
3) The positive reaction of ER and PR in the endometrial adenocarcinoma showed stronger reaction in the more differentiated type.
